A ug 2 00 6 Mass functions in coupled Dark Energy models

چکیده
We evaluate the mass function of virialized halos, by using Press & Schechter (PS) and/or Steth & Tormen (ST) expressions, for cosmologies where Dark Energy (DE) is due to a scalar self– interacting field, coupled with Dark Matter (DM). We keep to coupled DE (cDE) models known to fit linear observables. To implement the PS–ST approach, we start from reviewing and extending the results of a previous work on the growth of a spherical top–hat fluctuation in cDE models, confirming their most intriguing astrophysical feature, i.e. a significant baryon–DM segregation, occurring well before the onset of any hydrodynamical effect. Accordingly, the predicted mass function depends on how halo masses are measured. For any option, however, the coupling causes a distortion of the mass function, still at z = 0. Furthermore, the z–dependence of cDE mass functions is mostly displaced, in respect to ΛCDM, in the opposite way of uncoupled dynamical DE. This is an aspect of the basic underlying result, that even a little DM–DE coupling induces relevant modifications in the non–linear evolution. Therefore, without causing great shifts in linear astrophysical observables, the DM–baryon segregation induced by the coupling can have an impact on a number of cosmological problems, e.g., galaxy satellite abundance, spiral disk formation, apparent baryon shortage, entropy input in clusters, etc.. It is generally assumed that the two dark components of the energy density of the universe, a smooth component called dark energy and a fluid of nonrelativistic weakly interacting particles called dark matter, are independent of each other and interact only through gravity. In this paper, we consider a class of models in which the dark matter and dark energy interact directly. The dark matter p...

We investigate how the probability of the formation of giant arcs in galaxy clusters is expected to change in cosmological models dominated by dark energy with an equation of state p = wρc2 compared to cosmologicalconstant or open models. To do so, we use a simple analytic model for arc cross sections based on the NavarroFrenk-White density profile which we demonstrate reproduces essential feat...
متن کاملRelic Abundance of Mass-Varying Cold Dark Matter Particles
In models of coupled dark energy and dark matter the mass of the dark matter particle depends on the cosmological evolution of the dark energy field. In this note we exemplify in a simple model the effects of this mass variation on the relic abundance of cold dark matter. We still do not know the origin and composition of the cold dark matter (CDM) in the universe. Recent precision measurements...

To reconstruct dark energy models the redshift zeq, marking the end of radiation era and the beginning of matter-dominated era, can play a role as important as zt, the redshift at which deceleration parameter experiences a signature flip. To implement the idea we propose a variable equation of state for matter that can bring a smooth transition from radiation to matter-dominated era in a single...

Infrared Dark Clouds (IRDCs) are dark clouds seen in silhouette in mid-infrared surveys. They are thought to be the birthplace of massive stars, yet remarkably little information exists on the properties of the population as a whole (e.g. mass spectrum, spatial distribution). Genetic forward modelling is used along with the Two Micron All Sky Survey and the Besançon Galactic model to deduce the...
